Soren and Charlotte were visiting Thailand from Denmark. Having fished Bungsamran last year, Soren wanted to try something new and chose to take a day at Lake Monsters.
The weather wasn't ideal on the day, but nevertheless Soren caught quite a few fish, all of which were new species for him. The 'new species' list runs like this...Pacu, Thai Redtail, Snakehead, Alligator Gar and Redtail Catfish. Unfortunately though, no Arapaima, which was one species Soren was seeking to catch. During the day, whilst Soren was on the other side of the lake trying to catch one of Lake Monsters resident Arapaima's, one of the live bait rods went screaming off and I asked Charlotte if she would kindly 'do the honours' with this fish on Soren's behalf.
Sure enough, Charlotte stepped up and had a sterling scrap with what turned out to be a lovely Redtail Catfish of 20kg. I do like it when the ladies pick up the rod and start fishing, it puts a big smile on my face. Perhaps next time we you can have that elusive Arapaima Soren.
