Following a frenetic day of fishing for the Barramundi yesterday, Paul & Steve today headed off with me to visit IT Lake Monsters.
Lake Monsters is a different "kettle of fish" to Boonmar Ponds and the weather wasn't looking too promising for the day, and it probably wouldn't be a long days fishing either. Nevertheless, Paul and Steve still rose to the challenge.
Fishing with lures at Lake Monsters can be challenging in poor light, but Steve and Paul both added 'new species' to their catch lists. Steve hooked up with a spirited Redtail Catfish that came in around 25kg and also an Alligator Gar estimated to be around the 5kg mark.Paul had wanted to catch a certain type of fish and I desperately wanted him to do so also.
Around 2pm the dead-baits did it.Paul hooked into a gutsy Arapaima, that when finally netted, came in at around 35kg. It was nice to see the look of joy on Paul's face when he cradled the fish in his arms for the photo... I love it when someone catches an Arapaima... but Paul, there are still bigger fish for you to catch yet !
